Turning The Concrete Jungle Green
Green Urban Farms
Green Urban Farms (GUF) stimulates sustainability, food security, and community development by making use of underutilized urban spaces and transforming them into food growing arable farms. GUF uses urban agriculture as a tool to promote Urban Farming Education and to create new farming employment opportunities, as well as support local economies by providing fresh produce to markets, restaurants, and households.
What is Urban Farming?
Urban farming is the practice of growing food and raising livestock within the boundaries of Urban Areas and other densely populated areas. It is a way of producing food locally, often in small-scale operations, in order to provide fresh, healthy, and culturally appropriate food to urban dwellers. Urban farming can take many forms, such as community gardens, rooftop gardens, vertical gardens, ponics systems, and small-scale animal husbandry.
